The navigation menu - keep in mind this is the highest level of content organization and should therefore be limited. This must be considered in conjunction with the sub categories contained within each page, of course.
The prominent position and concept of the slideshow. The objective here is to lend some human interest to the site. The picture would be easy to change. It would be ideal to have a brief description of the event/people , but you might also just go with a Mission Statement
The three content boxes below the slideshow
The calendar (or event schedule) will show a list of upcoming events, with a title and date. Clicking the title will take you to the main calendar page, which will show full details and include any related downloads, etc. The list would be limited to the next "X" number of events, with newer ones automatically appearing at the top of the list and pushing down older ones. A more complete list will be available on the calendar page
The ILC finder box has a map of Utah counties organized according to the six centers. It is too small as is, so I am planning to show a larger view when it is initially clicked (a pop up like these notes). Once that happens, visitors will be able to move their cursor around and click on any of the county groups, which will take them to the ILC page for full details. As an alternative, there will also be a drop down selector that will allow you to choose your county and then send you to the ILC as described above. This will support visually impaired visitors
The news items will be a list of items of general interest - the list will show a title and possibly a brief intro. Clicking the title will take you to a page that shows full details. You can use this for any kind of information you like - adding new items will push the older ones down, as described above for the calendar
